Clean a Baby Boy

Clean a Baby Boy - Lay the baby down on a safe spot such as a changing table with straps or the floor with something underneath, like a towel or changing pad.

Unfasten the tabs of the wet or soiled diaper and place it in a spot out of the baby's reach. When removing the diaper, grasp both of the baby's feet with one hand and hold his buttocks up off the surface he is on.

Take a disposable baby wipe or dampened cloth wipe and begin wiping the cleanest area first, this is usually the front. Be sure to wipe inside the creases between the legs and genital area and clean the scrotum well.

If the baby has recently been circumcised, it is important to wipe gently around the area that has been cut and ensure that it is cleaned thoroughly to reduce the risk of infection. Depending on the method of circumcision that was used, your baby's pediatrician may have suggested applying a lubricant at this point. If you are unsure about this, consult your baby's pediatrician.

If the baby has an intact foreskin, simply wipe over the top and outside of it. Do not attempt to retract it as this can cause an injury. Foreskins do not typically begin retracting until about age 4.

Cleaning a baby boy during diaper changes is a simple process. Disposable wipes, cloth wipes or washcloths may be used. The best way to clean him will largely depend on whether he is circumcised or uncircumcised. - by eHow
