Heal Baby Face Rashes

Heal Baby Face Rashes - Refrain from using regular soap at bath time. Use just a small amount of a hypoallergenic or organic wash. The soap may be the cause of the rash, as these are often too harsh for a baby's skin.

Try applying hypoallergenic balm to ease the irritated skin, making sure to only use a small amount. Alternatively, try using hydrocortisone cream, which may help if the rash is because of an allergic reaction.

Keep your baby's face as dry as possible. Babies can get rashes from having too much dampness on their face, which then becomes red and inflamed. This could be from drool, saliva from a pacifier or even milk. Have a burp cloth around to keep your baby's face clean.

Keep your baby in cotton clothes. This also applies to bedding and blankets. This will stop the baby from getting overheated and sweating, which could cause a rash or make an existing rash worse.

Keep the rash clean and moisturized. Give your baby a warm bath before bed time. After the bath, apply some lotion on the rash, such as Vaseline, to seal the moisture in. A humidifier also will help keep the skin moisturized.

Rashes are common among babies, with their sensitive and delicate skin. A rash is an inflammation of the skin and can cause discomfort. There are many reasons for a rash on a baby's face, the most typical being atopic dermatitis or infantile eczema. Other causes can be heat rash, allergy, impetigo or hives. It is important to consult your pediatrician if the rash worsens or is accompanied by other symptoms. - by eHow
