Keep Baby Carrots Fresh in the Fridge

Keep Baby Carrots Fresh in the Fridge - Leave baby carrots sealed in their original bag until you are ready to use them. Keep the bag in the vegetable crisper drawer of the refrigerator.

Transfer the baby carrots to a perforated plastic bag after you have opened the original packaging. Alternatively, place the carrots in a regular plastic bag but close the top loosely so air can circulate into the bag and excess moisture can escape.
Keep Baby Carrots Fresh in the Fridge

Keep the bagged baby carrots in the crisper drawer for up to two weeks. Remove any carrots that begin to shrivel during the storage period, because one spoiled carrot can speed the decline of the remaining carrots.

Baby carrots aren't true babies, but instead they come from regular-size carrots. The full-size carrots are peeled and whittled into the traditional baby carrot shape during processing, before they show up on your grocer's produce shelves. Because they already are trimmed before you bring them home, they require very little preparation prior to storage. Storing the baby carrots much as you would full-size ones ensures the longest shelf life with retention of flavor and texture. Does this Spark an idea? - by eHow
