Get Rid of Mosquito Marks on a Baby's Skin

Get Rid of Mosquito Marks on a Baby's Skin - Cut your baby's fingernails with nail clippers. Bites are itchy, and if your baby scratches them, they could become infected.

Inspect the bite-mark areas. Ascertain that they are mosquito bites, and not an allergic reaction of some kind. If there's a logical reason for your baby to have bites, such as you had your baby outdoors during mosquito season, then the bites are most likely mosquito bites. If the red area is blotchy and patchy, it may be an allergic reaction. If you're unsure, check with your baby's pediatrician.

Prepare an oatmeal bath for your baby. Oatmeal soothes itchy, dry skin and can provide some relief from the itchiness of the bites. Additionally, lavender and chamomile have a calming effect, and can help your baby drift off to sleep. Add a few drops of lavender essential oil or a chamomile teabag to the bath to provide added comfort for your baby.

Gently pat-dry your baby's skin with a towel. Apply hydro-cortisone creme to your fingertip and massage some into each bite mark. Hydro-cortisone relieves itchiness and reduces redness and swelling.

Babies are just as susceptible as adults are to the bites of pesky mosquitoes. Mosquito bites can be annoying but normally they're nothing to worry about. Bite-mark pain and itching, however, may cause your child to feel irritable and to lose sleep. A baby's delicate skin can be particularly sensitive to over-the-counter insect bite products, but you can provide relief from uncomfortable bite marks and calm your bug-bitten baby by using some common household products. - by eHow
