Make a Baby Cake

Make a Baby Cake - Prepare the three boxed cake mixes according to package instructions. Grease three square cake pans and fill each one with cake batter. Bake according to package instructions, and allow them to cool completely.

Wrap a piece of cardboard, large enough to hold all three cakes, with wax paper. Tape the paper on the underside of the cardboard with adhesive tape to secure in place. Arrange the three cakes on the cardboard in the pattern of three toy blocks. (See illustration.)

Combine one tub of white frosting with 3 to 5 drops of blue food coloring in a small mixing bowl to create a pastel blue frosting. Repeat with each tub of frosting to also create pastel pink and pastel yellow frosting. Frost each cake with a different color frosting, reserving about ¼-cup of each color.

Arrange licorice sticks on each of the cakes to create the letters, "A," "B," and "C." Cover the licorice sticks with a different color frosting that contrasts with the baby cake they're placed upon. (See illustration.)

Outline the edges of each baby cake with licorice sticks and cover with frosting. Place real pacifiers around the edges and in between each cake for additional decoration, if desired. Serve at a baby shower or baby's birthday party.

You don't have to be a talented cake decorator to make a baby cake. Using this simple method, even the most inexperienced baker can make an attractive baby cake to present at a baby shower, or baby birthday party. This recipe will make enough cake to serve approximately 36 guests. Add this to my Recipe Box. - by eHow
