Interpret a Baby's Cries - Feed your baby if you hear a short and low-pitched cry with a certain rhythm. Hungry babies also give out several clues like finger sucking and lip smacking before crying. Learn these clues and feed your baby before she cries. It will help the feeding section go much smoother.

Check your baby's temperature if you hear a weak and nasal cry. Your baby's probably sick and does not have enough energy to cry loudly. Watch for other signs of sickness and bring your baby to the doctor if necessary.

Get your baby to sleep if you hear a whiny cry. She is probably tired and sleepy. She may also feel too cold or too warm, or just simply wants a diaper change.

Play with your baby when your baby starts cooing or fussing. This is her way of telling you that she is bored and needs your attention. Give her some toys to play with.

Watch out if your baby's cries are loud, long and high-pitched. This may mean that she is in pain.

Your baby uses crying to tell you that she is sick, tired, hungry, colicky or just simply bored. But how can you know exactly what she means?
