Assemble a Standard Baby Crib

Assemble a Standard Baby Crib - Unpack the crib; it will come in several pieces in a box. Everything that you need to assemble your standard baby crib will come with the crib. No extra tools are required. Open the box up and separate the pieces. Note the two long, thin side boards, two end pieces, two side rails, a large wooden board and a mattress. Start with the two end pieces. These are like a head board and a foot board. Take one and have your helper hold it upright.

Take one of the long, thin side boards. It will have male hardware on it. Insert the male hardware of the side board into the female hardware of the first end piece. For a newborn, insert it at the highest level. Do the same for the other side. Use the other end piece and the other side board and attach them in the same way. Now you have a crib that has two ends, but no side rails or bottom.

Insert the large wooden board into the crib as if it were a mattress. Turn the fasteners so that they slide over the wood. This keeps the wooden board safely in place and is what the mattress will rest on.

Take the first side rail, holding it with one hand on each end and slide it onto the male hardware of the end pieces on each side. Push it down until it clicks and locks securely into place. Do the same for the other side rail. The rails are adjustable. To adjust them push the buttons in on the top sides of each rail and slide up or down to desired height. A crib rail can be put up when baby is sleeping and then put down for easier changing.

Add the mattress. The mattress will slip right into the crib. There is no hardware required. Once the mattress has been inserted the crib is fully assembled. Add the casters to make the crib mobile by inserting them into the bottom of each leg. All you'll have left to do is to add a fresh sheet, and a darling baby bed set.

If you have a new baby coming soon, then it's time to make sure that you have everything baby will need all set up and ready to go. One of the main things that must be ready is the crib. Baby will need a safe and comfortable place to sleep. Assembling a standard baby crib is not that hard. Regardless of the type or brand of crib you have chosen this article will help you to get that crib put together in time for baby's arrival. Does this Spark an idea? - by eHow
