Care for Baby Frogs

Care for Baby Frogs - Set up your frog habitat. Use an empty fish tank with a screened lid to prevent the baby frogs from escaping. Line the bottom of the tank with paper towels, hand towels, or carpeting. Add a bowl full of water for bathing and drinking.

Provide your frog with regular exposure to UV light. You can take him outside for 20-minute periods throughout the day. Alternately, you can use a UV lamp. Turn the lamp on for 20 minutes at least two or three times per day.

Feed your baby frogs. Frogs like to catch their food live. You can buy crickets for your frogs from a pet store or a bait and fishing supply store. Frogs also like other insects, such as worms and night crawlers. Sprinkle your frog's insects with calcium powder at least two or three times per week to ensure he gets the vitamins he needs to be healthy.

Clean your frog tank daily. Remove the water dish and replace it with fresh water, and change out the bedding when it becomes soiled.

Handle frogs rarely. The enjoyment of owning a pet frog is in observing it, not holding it. Frogs often become agitated when held, and will even urinate on the person holding them. Though they may grow to tolerate your touch, they will never crave it.

Frogs require regular care in terms of feeding, housing, and health care. Take care to provide the habitat and sustenance your baby frogs need and they will grow into healthy adult frogs in no time. - by eHow
