Assemble Simmons Baby Cribs

Assemble Simmons Baby Cribs - Lay out the four sides of the crib exactly as they will be put together. Also, place all the needed parts, such as brackets, screws, and mattress spring, to the side so they can be easily accessed.

Screw the four sides together (three if you have a crib with a drop-down front). Make sure the notches match up exactly and that the sides are facing the correct way. You will be able to tell which way is correct by referring to any design on the wood that is supposed to be visible. All of these parts will need to face outwards, and any unfinished wood will be pointed inwards so they are not visible when the unit is fully assembled.

Attach the stabilizing bars to the crib ends (the shorter sides of the crib, not the front and back). This is only needed in Simmons cribs that have the drop-down bar on the front. Position the bar so that the bracket screws are in the small part of the keyhole and be sure to tighten the screws firmly. Then attach the stabilizing bar to the crib end and attach the other end of the stabilizing bars to the other crib side.

Attach the spring mattress support. Screw in each of the four spring clips located on each corner of the spring support. The brackets may need to be adjusted up or down to create an even mattress support frame.

Attach the drop sides of the crib. You will first need to install the gate shoes on the bottom of the front side of the crib by screwing them tightly into place. Screw in the drop side rods on each side of the crib to allow the side to move. Then, insert the drop side piece into place by screwing it directly into the rods on each side through the threaded sleeve.

Baby cribs can be notoriously difficult to put together. If you do not have the assembly instructions, you may need to contact the manufacturer directly to get directions mailed, or in some cases emailed to you. However, you will be able to put the crib together by following some very basic instructions. Simmons cribs typically come with a drop-down front railing, making it easier to pick your child up and put her down in the crib. - by eHow
