Pat the baby's hand dry with a clean towel. Do not rub it. It causes irritation.

Wrap the hand with the cloth bandage. Secure in place with medical tape.

Babies burn their hands by touching extremely hot items. These range from surfaces to hot bathwater. The amount of pain the baby experiences depends on the type of burn. If the skin is just red, it's a first-degree burn that can be treated at home. If blisters, swelling or charring is present on the hands, take the baby to the emergency room. These are signs of second and third degree burns, according to Baby Center's website. - by eHow
