Make Snow Globes Out of Baby Food Jars

Make Snow Globes Out of Baby Food Jars - Clean the baby food jar. The size of the baby food jar doesn't matter much. You can use a small or large jar. Wash the jar in hot soapy water before rinsing. Take the wrapper off the jar so you can see all the way through it.

Make distilled water. Heat 3 cups of water in a pan until boiling. Take the pan off the burner and let it cool completely.

Heat the glue gun. Put a glue stick in your glue gun and plug it in. While the glue is heating, dry your jar lid as best as you can. An adult should help if a child is making the snow globe.

Attach the plastic toy. Use a plastic waterproof toy that is small enough to fit on the inside of the jar lid. Cake decorations, brightly colored stones or shells can also be used. Put glue on the bottom of the decoration you're using and hold it tightly against the inside of the baby food jar lid. Hold it in place until the hot glue dries.

Add the snow. Measure out 1/2 teaspoon of glitter and pour it into the baby food jar. You can add more glitter if your snow globe needs it. The snow doesn't have to be silver or white glitter or even glitter. It can be colored foil cut up in very tiny pieces, sand, beads or sequins. You can also use the shells of hard boiled eggs after the membrane is removed and the shells crushed.

Snow globes have amazed and amused people for generations. They have a magical quality about them that makes people want to shake them and watch the snow fall slowly back to the bottom. If you've always wanted a snow globe but thought they might be too expensive, don't worry. With some baby food jars and a few other supplies, you can soon make your own snow globes to enjoy whenever you want. - by eHow
