Increase a Baby's IQ

Increase a Baby's IQ - Research intelligence studies. While the term IQ is often used in casual conversations, it has many different meanings. For some, IQ is academic knowledge. For others, IQ is a broader concept encapsulating a child's ability to problem-solve and think logically. Some IQ tests involve mathematical equations and others inventory your likes and dislikes. Look into the distinction between "brain" and "mind." Decide what IQ means to you.

Have a healthful pregnancy. Exercise regularly, eat a balanced diet, get plenty of rest and avoid stress. A healthy mother is more likely to have a baby that is healthy physically and mentally.

Take care of your child's corporeal needs, including food, warmth, diapers and sleep. Your infant needs a healthy body to experience learning. Her senses are essential to interacting with her environment. A healthy body leads to a healthy mind.

Track your baby's development. Most babies deviate from the average path, developing faster or slower than their peers. Keeping track of severe differences can help you target developmental problems early on. Discuss concerns regularly with your pediatrician and treat conditions before they turn into developmental hazards.

Stimulate your baby. Present your child with novel experiences on a regular basis. Touch him. Read to him. Play music. This stimuli challenges your baby and leads him to explore the world around him. Early exploration increases ability to problem-solve, think logically and communicate--all factors which affect IQ scores.

As a parent it is natural to worry about your child's future. Providing for him physically is a simple if tiring process. But securing his intellectual future is another matter. Even though there is still much debate concerning the nature of intelligence, and consequently ways to increase your baby's IQ (Intelligence Quotient), the baby/toddler industry has unloaded myriad products on concerned parents. From Mozart in utero to Baby Einstein, many products claim to increase intelligence. Avoid reliance on any one method as a "quick fix" or "miracle product." - by eHow
