Treat a Baby's Sunburn - Access the seriousness of the burn. Minor sunburn will cause redness and slight swelling. More serious burns will be a darker shade of red, blistered and very swollen.

Call your doctor to let him know about the sunburn. If he suspects that it is a serious burn, he will want you to bring the baby in for evaluation.

Give the baby plenty of fluids. Sunburn can lead to dehydration, which is why it is important to offer the baby plenty of breast milk or formula.
