Help Babies Hair Grow

Help Babies Hair Grow - Shampoo the hair regularly, but no more often than once daily. Children with thick, curly or wavy hair may only need shampoo once a week. Condition the hair if it tangles easily or seems dry before shampooing.

Gently remove tangles from the hair with the comb or pick. Brush the hair only when no longer wet. Do not pull the hair or style in tight ponytails or braids.

Allow the child to spend some play time on his stomach or side. Bald spots have been noted where babies have spent a long time lying flat on their backs.

Remove cradle cap by wetting the scalp, applying a few drops of oil and gently brushing away the flakes with the toothbrush. Cradle cap does not cause baldness, but it can be hard to see hair beneath the flakes. Shampoo the hair to remove remaining flakes and oil.

Patchy or nearly nonexistent hair is normal in young infants, and is almost always temporary, with virtually all children having a full head of hair by their second birthdays. For parents who get well-wishers congratulating them on the birth of a son when they have a daughter, however, patience may not be enough. Caring for the scalp and existing hair well will help maintain and promote hair growth in children of all ages. With babies, being extra gentle will preserve the new growth and prevent discomfort. - by eHow
