Make Your Baby Smarter in the Womb

Make Your Baby Smarter in the Womb - Stop smoking, drinking or doing drugs. Unhealthy behaviors such as these can inhibit the brain development of your child.

Eat a healthy diet and exercise. Following healthy habits, such as eating nutritious foods and getting regular exercise will encourage your baby's brain to grow properly.

Listen to music. A baby gains the sense of hearing in the third month of your pregnancy--he hears everything that goes on outside. Playing music allows him to develop a love for music. It can also increase the chances that your baby will be soothed by music once he is born.

Talk to your baby. Recent research suggests that babies begin to learn language in the womb; cries match the tonality of his parents' language. The more you talk to your baby, the more he will learn the sound of your voice and the sound of your language. This is especially true during the last trimester of your pregnancy.

Touch your belly. Feeling safe and secure is an important part of your baby's happiness. When you touch and caress your belly (or your baby through your belly), he will learn that your loving touch is there to protect him.

Research suggests that there are things that a parent can do to encourage brain development in the womb. You may feel silly talking to your baby or playing music for him while he's still inside you, but these little things can make a difference. Prenatal stimulation, along with proper healthy behaviors, can make your baby smarter in the womb. - by eHow
