Complete medical school applications. After receiving your MCAT scores, request application packets from medical schools. Information about medical schools can be found in the Medical School Admission Requirement Book. This resource is available at most public libraries or at your pre-medicine advisor's office.

Attend medical school. The first two years of medical school will be spent studying biochemistry, physiology, psychology, microbiology, medical ethics and medical law, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. During the last two years of study, medical students work directly with patients under the supervision of licensed physicians. They learn to diagnose conditions and also learn about preventative and rehabilitative care. Medical students rotate through a variety of settings during this time, including pediatrics, gynecology, family practice and surgery, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

Take the United States Medical Licensing Exam after earning your medical school diploma. You must pass the USMLE before starting work on your residency requirement. As of 2010, the cost to take the USMLE was $2,655.

Baby doctors, who are also called pediatricians, obtain specific training to take care of children. Pediatricians partner with parents to teach about baby care and diagnose childhood health issues. As of 2008, job growth for doctors is expected to increase 22 percent by 2018, reports the Bureau of Labor Statistics. However, before launching this career, you'll need to complete the required education, residency and licensing requirements. - by eHow
